Kristen England and BJ Haun started Pour Decisions Brewery a while back, and through perseverance, blood, sweat and whiskey they started serving their beers to the public late this Summer, and opened the brewery/taproom to the public on October 14th.
England is buddy from a good while back. He’s a crazy nut. So crazy that he asked me to do a mural at the brewery. He’d pay for paint, give me 100% creative control and access, and bath me in beer. How could I say no? Chances to rock wall-size pieces, in a brewery, especially ones where you pick the subject matter don’t come around often..well shit, ever for most people I’m guessing.
So, I got to work. I decided to go with the Water Wolf, old Esox Lucius, Northern Pike, Slimer, Hammer Handle, Snake, or just old Pike. The “wolf” is one my favorite fish. I’ve been running with him for my entire life. Catching them on the fly can be epic, explosive and addictive.
A few hours of sketching, a couple days of painting…Into The Maw.
Give me some Pubstitute.
As a fellow northman, pikehunter and pubstitute fan, I really love this. Well done.
It makes me hungry, thirsty, and a little scared, all at the same time. Primeval!
So I am in Seattle on a rainy afternoon, checking out some blogs. I show this post to my girlfriend and she says hey is that Jake Keeler? Yeah it is how did you know that? He lived across the hall from me in undergrad. The world gets really small sometimes. The guy that taught me how to brew over the interwebs is friends with a bunch of other people I know in real life. Fun stuff.
Anyways I hope all is going well, I really like the direction your work is heading. That stylized rainbow is super cool.
This is awesome! Just found you through Pilecast and I dig your art man. Well done and keep it up.
